Broken Sword: Director's Cut Download PC Game

Is it a good port? By all accounts it looks like Gameloft has hit the upscale button on the iPhone version and farted out an iPad version in its lunch hour. Poorly detailed environments, garish colours and hideous character models are the least of its worries, with gameplay so fundamentally broken it's hard to know which element is the most offensive. From crippled tilt-based driving mechanics to laboured combat and stilted movement, this is easily the worst GTA clone I've ever seen. Even the reduced price isn't remotely tempting.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (released as Circle of Blood in the US) is a point-and-click adventure game released to the PC on November 5, 1996. It was released on the PlayStation in December that same year and on the Game Boy Advance March 19, 2002. It has also been released to the Mobile phone, and re-released to the Wii, PC, Mac OS X, Nintendo DS and iOS as a "director's cut". According to Charles Cecil, it sold around a 1,000,000 copies in the mid-1990s.[2] The game follows George Stobbart - a young American patent lawyer, who is a eye witness and victim of a bomb attack on a small Parisian cafe.

In 2004, Adventure Gamers ranked Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars at #4 on their list of Top 20 Adventure Games of All-Time.[52] Adventure Classic Gaming ranked it at #3 on their list of Top 10 retro graphic adventure games of all time from PC to consoles, in 2006.[53] Metacritic ranked it at #9 on their list of 25 Best iPhone and iPad Games of 2010.[54] In 2011, Adventure Gamers ranked it at #4 again on their list of Top 100 All-Time Adventures.[55] In 2011, the first two Broken Sword games have been downloaded by over 4 million people.[56]

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars spawned three sequels. The first, Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror was released in 1997 and is the only game in the series that does not follow the Knights Templar story line.[3] It uses the same engine as the first Broken Sword game. Six years later, Revolution released Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon, which moved to 3D graphics, and is the only game in the series that uses a direct control mechanism.[57] It uses the RenderWare engine. In 2006, the company Broken Sword: The Angel of Death (released as Secrets of the Ark: A Broken Sword Game' in North America), which returns to the point 'n' click system used in the first two games, and is the only game in the series not released on any console.[58] The game uses Sumo Digital's engine. In 2009, Revolution released a director's cut of the first game, named Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars - Director's Cut.[59] The company released a remastered edition of the second, named Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror - Remastered, in 2010.[60] Revolution has confirmed that there will be a new Broken Sword game in the future, and in 2D, but did not confirm they are currently making one.

Why am I going all nostalgic for the most French game I've ever played? Because, to celebrate 6 million downloads, Good Old Games are giving away the Director's Cut completely free. There is no catch.

Wow! Thanks for all the good replies. I do like the room escape games also. I used to play them a lot. I have played Flight of the Amazon Queen and finished it. I started Beneath a Steel Sky a long time ago but for some reason didn't get it finished as I recall. I just reloaded it to try again. And also just downloaded Lure of the Temptress to try it.

In his book Game Plan: Great Designs that Changed the Face of Computer Gaming, British video game journalist Ste Curran wrote that Broken Sword influenced the adventure games Toonstruck, in which Cecil has a "Special Thanks" credit, and Escape from Monkey Island, which features a puzzle that involves a broken sword. Kevin Bruner, co-founder of Telltale Games, has said that he is a Broken Sword fan. Ashton Raze, a writer for The Daily Telegraph and the co-creator of the upcoming adventure Richard & Alice, said that Broken Sword is his biggest influence. In his review of the 2010 game Deponia, Declan Skews of Video Games Interactive said that the game drew inspiration from Broken Sword.

PC game download charts collected on January 10 show the Call of Duty: Black Ops juggernaut continues to plough on, topping Steam's list, while upcoming role-playing MMOs DC Universe Online and RIFT make a dent in Direct2Drive's top five.

The information about the install size of Broken Sword 2 - the Smoking Mirror: Remastered is currently not available. It's a game often downloaded in many countries such as Sudan, India, and United Kingdom.
